Music In Movies

Music is something that drives, motivates and empowers millions to make and create. Music supplements love, passion and joy. Think about movies and how they amplify messages and emotions. Below is a breakdown of types of music for each major movie genre:

  1. Scary & Horror

Every time you watch a horror movie, pretty much any one of them, the music factor is present in every scene that includes something that defines horror. Remember that scene when Jason (or whatever his name was) attacked each victim and the time he was approaching them? The music was very sharp and fairly loud, all to amplify what was going on in the scene.

  1. Funny & Comedy

Totally love watching comedy! Most of the time, things like stand-ups and shows don’t have any specials effects, other than maybe clapping if the comedian isn’t all that good, but movies definitely include music to scenes that need it. For example fart noises and sounds of failure as I like to call them, definitely add a special effect and make you laugh.

  1. Cartoon & Kids

Remember watching cartoons? Same ones your kids are watching TODAY! Almost every scene has a musical background to create more emotions whether it’s excitement or anger. If you haven’t yet, go ahead and watch a few, you’ll see what we’re talking about. None of those will make you cry, but definitely cause laughter and joy.

  1. Love & Romance

Oh, those love movies. makes you think of Romeo and Juliet huh? Explainable, but those are just the types of movies, that have love scenes supplemented by appropriate music. Go ahead, watch some love movies and post in comment names of only those that have music backgrounds with love scenes. There are two types of scenes when romantic music is appropriate: when romantic actions are happening and the talking and hugging all the way to kissing and end of scene.. As soon as the two begin to kiss music changes to slower pace and it doesn’t fail!

  1. Action & Adventure

Action movies are the best! It’s like the orchestra just keep on playing, otherwise the movie becomes boring and viewers leave the theater. You see, the music is usually necessary when there is no conversation going on, which is the case with action movies. Adventure genre is a bit different and only has soundtrack playing when action happens, there’s just a bit more talking involved.

  1. Thriller & Suspense

All of us have heard of suspenseful music before, and movies are just the reason why. Nobody is going to listen to it on the way to work or school, because there is simply no point or message. It’s just a set of sound that in conjunction with certain scenes make your heart beat in suspense.

There are many more movie genres out there and we won’t be covering all of them today, so hopefully you are seeing where all this is coming from. Watch the films and pay attention to those scenes, then feel free to comment. If, for some reason, you’re not seeing appropriate scenes accompanied by music, feel free to comment below, including movie, time of scene and how that made you feel.

How to make it in the music world

Only ten years ago or so, if you wanted to become a successful musician, yourself as well as your team had to be jamming at a local pub for months to get noticed by a random walk in who just happened to be there on accident, and offer you a trial which would determine whether or not your music is even worth his time and investment.

Nowadays however, the process is much simpler thanks to all the technology that’s around us on day to day basis. All you gotta do is record your tune and share it with the world. This eliminated the need for agents to make you heard and seen around the globe, just like eliminating a middle man in any other business transaction.

So, you might have a general idea on how to do it, but don’t fully understand the ins and outs of the industry and getting recognition. Here, I would like shine light upon what I think are key elements on making your musical dreams come true.

  1. First successful tune can fuel your future career.

Can you name any of the recent stars that came up with an album and ended up famous because of it? You might be able to name one or two but not many more than that. Most artists that go big, concentrate on the very first hit and make it huge. It is crucial to put a ton of effort into it, as it will become your face from everyone’s prospective up until your next big hit.

  1. Following up is the way to true success.

Yes, your first hit is the jump start to the life you want as a musician, but if you’re not following it up with your next successful hit, the instant or as some people like to call it, overnight fame might be gone in a heartbeat. Why is it so important? Because just like you, there are millions of artists who are working hard to be the next star of the show biz.

  1. Take every opportunity to get exposure.

Once you’re at that level where people are getting to know who you are and becoming fans of your work, your cell phone and email will start to blow up with invitations to talks on TV, shows, interviews and podcasts.  Your best bet is a popular podcast or a small channel TV interview. Most of the big TV offers will be bogus and will prove to be a waste of your time. Make sure to be very excited and energized when you go on air, because everybody’s watching!

  1. Be yourself.

Finally, it’s extremely important to never try to be someone you’re not, because people appreciate honesty. They want to see who you are as a person, what your beliefs and values are and not how well you can fake being someone else because in the end, they’ll be listening to you and your music, not the person you’re trying to be.

I really wanted to get this information out the because there are just too many people asking and I’m getting to the point where it’s copy and paste with just changing the name. Hope it helps and make sure to share it with your friends who are looking into make music their life.

Adventures from my niece

My niece have written this story a while back and I believe it’s beautiful and couldn’t resist sharing it with everyone here:

It was another beautiful day in the countryside. The low was sixty-seven degrees and the high was a surprisingly low number of ninety two. It was the first week of summer break and I was ready for an adventure. Finally, my senior summer.

I wanted it to be the best one yet. My friends and I had talked about taking some type of trip this summer and finally decided our first adventure would be to the canyon camping grounds about four hours away. My friends Jesse and Court, along with myself had spent weeks on end planning the perfect trip. Today was the day and I was shaking with excitement. We had agreed upon taking Courtney’s new truck whom she had named Pelon.

I heard a honk outside my house alerting me that my friends had made their grand entrance. I grabbed my large blue and white polka dot duffel bag and yelled goodbye to my parents. I was more than ready for a weekend of no rules and crazy adventures. Once I was in the car we were ready to hit the road. However, knowing Courtney there would be a few stops first. On the way out of my neighborhood, she of course had to stop by her boyfriends house and say goodbye for the LONGG time apart from him. (The long time being over twenty four hours long.) Then we had to stop at the store for any items the three of us had forgotten, one of them being a toothbrush for Jesse and hot fries for Courtney.

(She cannot live without them.) Our final stop was at the gas station to fill up the truck. I ran inside to grab a few sodas and waters for the four hour drive ahead. We were finally completely ready to hit the road. Four hours later, we finally arrived. We found a parking spot close to the campsite and gathered all of our things out of the truck. It was only about a ten minute walk till we found the perfect spot. We began to set up our tent and build a fire. Although it was hot, we would need to cook something for our dinner.

By the time we were done figuring out how to put the tent together, it was nearly 6pm. We were all starving, aside from Courtney with her hot fries that is. None of us had ever cooked using just a fire and we were all quite perplexed. We decided to go with the easiest thing in our cooler, hot dogs. We found some long sticks lying around and shoved the hot dogs onto the ends. We roasted the hot dogs over the fire and took out the buns and any condiments we had brought. Honestly, they were some of the best hot dogs I have ever eaten.

We sat around the fire telling stories from senior year until the sun set. We were right by the canyon and the sunset was one of the most breathtaking sights I have ever seen. It was the perfect end to a perfect night.
