How to make it in the music world

Only ten years ago or so, if you wanted to become a successful musician, yourself as well as your team had to be jamming at a local pub for months to get noticed by a random walk in who just happened to be there on accident, and offer you a trial which would determine whether or not your music is even worth his time and investment.

Nowadays however, the process is much simpler thanks to all the technology that’s around us on day to day basis. All you gotta do is record your tune and share it with the world. This eliminated the need for agents to make you heard and seen around the globe, just like eliminating a middle man in any other business transaction.

So, you might have a general idea on how to do it, but don’t fully understand the ins and outs of the industry and getting recognition. Here, I would like shine light upon what I think are key elements on making your musical dreams come true.

  1. First successful tune can fuel your future career.

Can you name any of the recent stars that came up with an album and ended up famous because of it? You might be able to name one or two but not many more than that. Most artists that go big, concentrate on the very first hit and make it huge. It is crucial to put a ton of effort into it, as it will become your face from everyone’s prospective up until your next big hit.

  1. Following up is the way to true success.

Yes, your first hit is the jump start to the life you want as a musician, but if you’re not following it up with your next successful hit, the instant or as some people like to call it, overnight fame might be gone in a heartbeat. Why is it so important? Because just like you, there are millions of artists who are working hard to be the next star of the show biz.

  1. Take every opportunity to get exposure.

Once you’re at that level where people are getting to know who you are and becoming fans of your work, your cell phone and email will start to blow up with invitations to talks on TV, shows, interviews and podcasts.  Your best bet is a popular podcast or a small channel TV interview. Most of the big TV offers will be bogus and will prove to be a waste of your time. Make sure to be very excited and energized when you go on air, because everybody’s watching!

  1. Be yourself.

Finally, it’s extremely important to never try to be someone you’re not, because people appreciate honesty. They want to see who you are as a person, what your beliefs and values are and not how well you can fake being someone else because in the end, they’ll be listening to you and your music, not the person you’re trying to be.

I really wanted to get this information out the because there are just too many people asking and I’m getting to the point where it’s copy and paste with just changing the name. Hope it helps and make sure to share it with your friends who are looking into make music their life.
